- Cool-reads
An excellent book review site created and run by teenagers Tim and Chris Cross. with young guest reviewers. Although the books reviewed are for 10-15-year-olds this is a wonderful site to visit if you have older children and are looking for reading ideas.
- National Literacy Trust
A website devoted to providing up-to-date accurate information on literacy issues for all age groups in the UK. Essential viewing for anyone with an interest in literacy issues.
- Mrs Mad's Book-a-Rama
Book reviews and other fun things for the very young through to early teens. The books are reviewed by primary school teacher, Mrs. Mad, and other reviewers. There are direct links to Amazon if you wish to buy the books.
- Bookstart UK
Website of the national Bookstart project, which encourages parents and carers to read with their children as early as possible.
- Bookstart Edinburgh
Find lots of information about the Citywide Bookstart programme and the Bookstart packs. There are also details about Bookstart events in Wester Hailes, Sighthill, North Edinburgh and Leith.

A really fun website all about books, reading and literacy. You can find events information, activity sheets for children and there is lots to see and listen to. You can find tips and ideas from other parents on how to making reading fun with children. Read Together is produced from a Scottish perspective.

Very much aimed at parents, this is a great site for ideas and advice on how children learn to read. There is advice on how parents can help the process along while keeping it fun.
