Craigmillar Books for Babies Patron
Patrick Benson
Patrick Benson was born in 1956 and studied art and drawing in Florence, then at Chelsea Art School and finally St. Martin School of Art.
After a brief spell in the fashion industry, Patrick became an illustrator and in 1984 won The Mother Goose Award for the most promising newcomer in children’s book illustration.
He has illustrated books for amongst others Roald Dahl (The MinPins) and Martin Waddell (Owl Babies). He has also written and illustrated his own books and is regarded as one of the country’s foremost illustrators.
In 1997 Patrick designed the distinctive and much admired baby owl logo for Craigmillar Books for Babies and then in 2004 he renewed his connection with the project when he was guest of honour at our sixth birthday party held in Craigmillar Library. We are delighted that Patrick has now agreed to be our patron.
